  • Responsibilities


    • Perform the most complex and specialized mechanical and/or electrical tests on product components or series of components
    • Design and develop specialized measurements, special purpose instrumentation and/or shop or laboratory test equipment
    • Analyzes data and makes recommendations on unusual and difficult technical problems
    • Keeps records on work performed, analyzes data collected, and reports results
    • Recommends revisions to product or component design
    • Maintains good housekeeping, safety practices and supplies
    • Coordinates and exchanges findings with engineering personnel outside work group on a frequent basis - Presentation of test results and recommendations to customers





    • Knowledge in MS Office (Word) – Advanced level
    • Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool – Advanced level
    • Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
    • Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
    • Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills 
    • Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
    • Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
    • Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas
    • Advanced ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using root cause analysis where problems are more complex
    • Strong knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts - 10+ years experience
    • Strong engineering math knowledge - 10+ years experience
    • Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings - 10+ years experience
    • Position related experience - 10+ years experience
    • Relevant auto industry experience required - Entry level (<1 year)
    • Past automotive work experience required - Entry level (<1 year)
    • Areas of expertise include: Quality, Testing and Automotive systems
    • Build, debug and calibrate fuel cell test stand equipment.


    • Build, debug and calibrate fuel cell power module test stand equipment.


    • Build, debug and calibrate specialized diagnostic equipment


    • Trouble shoot and repair test equipment using best practice and experience


    • Analyze test data output and perform remedial action or improvement recommendations


    • Install modifications and upgrades to all test equipment


    • Install test stand interfaces to the fuel cell modules.


    • Install test stand interfaces to the facility and lab controls.


    • Support Development Engineers during lab and test stand layout, providing input on hardware configuration and arrangement in the test labs.


    • Provide supporting documentation for all calibrations and modifications done on equipment.


    • Modify or create electro-mechanical drawings that show high voltage, low voltage, I/O pin out, communication systems and mechanical component layout using Visio software


    • Support weekend and off shift test needs as required.


    • Participate in continuous improvement activities and problem resolution process.

    • AAS in Mechanical, Electrical engineering or equivalent military experience.

    • Working knowledge of computer controlled hardware and instrumentation.

    • Working knowledge of temperature and pressure sensors, and mass flow control.

    • Experience with tuning and evaluating control systems.

    • Self reliant problem solver with demonstrated experience exceeding expectations in an electro mechanical work environment.

    • Ability to multitask in a highly flexible environment. Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, and ability to handle rapidly changing priorities.

    • Experience reading and following mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.

    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge in Microsoft Access and Visio.

    • Controls experience using Labview, dSpace and Simulink software packages.

    • Experience with continuous improvement and quality problem resolution processes.




    Calibration equipment ( Gas and liquid flows, pressure, temperature, gas sensors) Gas Chromatographs, Leak detection units, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Power supplies, Hand tools




    • Working with high voltage sources, Hydrogen systems, Pure Oxygen systems and High temperature devises.




    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical field or Automotive Technology or equivalent training
