  • Responsibilities


    • Performs the more specialized mechanical and/or electrical tests on product components or series of components
    • Trains, develops and assigns work to employees
    • Plans and meets project and test schedules
    • Keeps supervision informed of developments as needed
    • Analyzes data and makes recommendations on unusual and difficult technical problems
    • Presentation of test results and recommendations to customers
    • Makes and follows up on reports and maintains related records
    • Frequent contact with others outside work group
    • Ensures good housekeeping, safety practices and the availability of adequate supplies and equipment
    • The Associate Technician II should be able to carry out specifically outlined job assignments with some supervision.

    • The candidate should be able to describe work accomplishments or concerns through effective verbal and written communications.

    • The candidate should be able to interact smoothly with other workers at several levels.

    • Skill level should be documented as part of the employee's performance review.

    • The candidate typically possesses skills in one or maybe two of the following functions:


    Test Technician responsible for the design, build, setup, and execution of laboratory tests for the purpose of developing and validating vehicle body and chassis systems

    • Build up test sites including the fabrication of fixtures and vehicle component preparation
    • Setup and operate laboratory tests using hydraulic pneumatic and electro-mechanical closed loop control schemes
    • Monitor test progress and document observations in log book, communicate project status and results to Test Engineer-Compile and format engineering data for evaluation report Personal Characteristics



    • Knowledge of vehicle body and chassis sub-systems


    • Ability to change vehicle components, modify parts, and install with proper torque specifications


    • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and concepts


    • Strong written and oral communication skills


    • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others


    • Basic fabrication and machine shop skills


    • Fundamental welding skills


    • Multitask, keeping several projects moving forward at the same time


    • Ability to read engineering drawings


    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project Preferred:


    • Automotive laboratory testing experience


    • Troubleshoot and calibrate test equipment for laboratory operations


    • Collect data using digital data acquisition systems and assist engineering personnel with processing, editing, and engineering analysis


    • High level of problem solving and analytical skills



    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical field or Automotive Technology or equivalent training
    • This technician should have technical training beyond the high school level.
    • This could include up to an associate or bachelors degree, technical course work, professional certifications, military training, Journeyman status, or specific corporate training.
    • Associate’s Degree in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, fluid power, mechatronics, or equivalent


    Preferred Education


    • ASC certified Automotive Tech with relevant experience considered.




    • Driving a company Vehicle is required
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
