  • Responsibilities

    The Creative Lead/Sr. Instructional Designer (Product) is responsible for designing/developing learning solutions that meet and exceed our client's expectations for improving retail performance. Design and develop materials across a variety of media (web, print, live, kiosk, mobile and video) that communicate a clear, relevant message to all our external and internal audiences -- including our client's internal Academy staff, trainers, and the end users in dealerships throughout the NAFTA region.

    • Manage the instructional development process, including curriculum and course design, writing/development and editing from needs analysis/concept to implementation and measurement, including: Content outlines, interactive instructional design documents, production scripts, meeting leader guides (for live training) and testing/assessment scripts
    • Additional print/interactive support, including print deliverables/job aids, "word tracks," and interactive links to multimedia files
    • All related marketing/promotion of courses, tools, job aids and resources Ad hoc projects as required Monitor/edit numerous projects/deliverables simultaneously during the development process
    • Collaborate with corporate partners such as our client's organization, Fleet, Mopar, Owner Communications, Media and Scoop to leverage available assets and programs as needed to support retail performance improvement and knowledge transfer
    • The Senior Instructional Designer/Copy Writer designs, writes and guides the creative development of learning and performance support materials for an audience of our client's dealership personnel.

    • This role collaborates with subject matter experts and program managers and works with our client's Performance Institute’s team to develop effective and engaging web-based and live learning experiences and assessments for dealership personnel.

    • In addition, this role creates articles, audio and video scripts, and other support materials for the target audience.

    • Training objectives focus on automotive brand/product knowledge, as well as methodologies and tools for sales and after sales personnel.

    • In addition to instructional design and copy writing tasks, this role requires the ability to:Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology

    • Maintain records and files of work and revisions, per departmental standards

    • Use templates for creating deliverables

    • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel

    • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material

    • Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with products, programs and software applications

    • Design and develop learning solutions, under tight time-lines and with minimal supervision, that meet or exceed  Institute expectations for improving dealership performance

    Required Skills:

    • Perform research and review source materials to identify messages that support brand direction

    • Collaborate with corporate partners such as the  Sales organization,  Media and Scoop to leverage available assets and programs as needed to support retail performance improvement and knowledge transfer
    • The ideal candidate is an individual who is experienced in automotive writing and is knowledgeable in adult learning and instructional design strategies, who can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things “have always been done.”

    • In addition, the candidate should be a curious, driven and creative problem-solver, with proven technical and creative writing skills as well as experience working across multiple instructional delivery modalities to create high-quality learning experiences.

    • Work with cross-functional teams to create learning modules focused on the features and benefits of the automotive products and services

    • Develop written materials across a variety of media (web, print, live, and video) that communicate a clear, relevant message to all our external and internal audiences including our internal Performance Institute staff, trainers, and the end users in dealerships across the country

    • Materials to be developed include content outlines, interactive instructional design documents, production scripts, meeting leader guides (for live training) and testing/assessment scripts

    • Write additional support materials, including print deliverables/job aids, word tracks, and interactive links to multimedia files

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in writing/instructional design
    • Experience with the instructional design process
    • Excellent and demonstrated writing skills, e.g., creative, journalistic, marketing/copy, technical
    • Excellent and demonstrated analysis skills
    • Proven experience collaborating with project team members and various internal departments/disciplines to produce learning
    • Developed time management skills
    • Expertise in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Suite

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of Storyline authorware a plus
    • Instructional Design — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
    • Writing — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
    • Communications and Media — Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
