  • Responsibilities

    Engineering Job Description & Responsibilities:

    • Lead component cost throughout program life for Chassis components
    • Work from BOM, drawings and/or samples
    • Develop technical cost and investment/tooling models for Chassis components and systems using activity based costing methodologies.
    • Provide subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing at working levels and to executive leadership.
    • Analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate piece cost and tooling cost using activity based costing.
    • Leverage understanding of elements of piece cost and investment for manufacturing processing typical for the production of brakes, suspension, mounts and wheels
    • Partner with the Chassis Tooling/Process cost Engineer.
    •  Individual is responsible for developing welded assembly process to provide component piece and tooling cost targets using activity based costing (negotiation support for new business placement and design changes).
    • Individual provides welded assembly subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing at working levels.
    • Individual must have the ability to analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate assembly piece and tooling costs.
    • Individual must be curious, persistent and innovative.

    Qualifications

    Required Engineering Experience & Skills

    • 5+ years of engineering experience in design/development chassis programs /components
    • OR
    • 5+ years of engineering experience with chassis manufacturing processes (Casting, forgings, Injection molding, finishes, machining)
    • 3+ years of experience with Chassis
    • MS Office proficient
    • Excellent communication skills (oral & written).

    Engineering Education Required   

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Preferred (however, only candidates with minimum number of years' experience will be considered)

    Preferred Engineering Experience & Skills

    • Experience in Activity based Costing
    • Strong Team-Center skills
    • Prefer a candidate with manufacturing design experience with Automotive Frames and Suspension
