  • Responsibilities



    • We are looking for a product development engineer to design and release after-treatment catalyst components to support existing and forward model programs to meet SULEV emission standards, while delivering excellent drive-ability at the lowest possible system cost.
    • You will work with engineering groups including peer development engineers, exhaust system engineers, and calibration teams across the organization.
    • Additionally, the work will include collaborating internally with purchasing, finance, marketing and program management, and externally with supplier engineering.
    • Define a Best-In Class after-treatment system architecture, substrate, wash-coat, and Precious metal loading selection for existing and future gasoline, diesel, and hybrid vehicle applications to meet worldwide regulatory vehicle emission standards.
    • Define after-treatment systems to align with program performance objectives and durability requirements.
    • Establish engineering specifications, component FMEA & DVP, identify and process system trade-offs to align with system boundary conditions.
    • Create and maintain catalyst prints, engineering specifications, application summary sheets, cost assumptions, etc. for three way catalysts, diesel oxidation catalysts, selective catalytic reduction, and particulate filters.
    • Lead supplier meetings to improve manufacturing processes for function, cost, weight, and quality. Perform audits of manufacturing facilities: substrate, wash-coat, and canning.
    • Support PMT, Engine Calibration, Exhaust D&R, Finance, Basic Design, and Certification Teams with the intent of delivering the program specific design within GPDS timing and cost constraints.
    • Develop and track hardware and calibration solutions that meet system functional objectives.
    • Support evaluation of emerging after-treatment technologies necessary to meet future government emissions regulatory requirements.
    • Position requires limited amount of travel, mainly in the US, but may extend to international.




    • Design and release of catalyst emission components
    • Ability to manage program timing and deliverables (cost, prototypes, prints, engineering specifications)
    • Ability to manage suppliers (prototype parts, PPAP, PFMEA, and cost)
    • Emissions development
    • Identifying and resolving emissions issues relating to calibration, controls, or exhaust system
    • Processing and delivering of programs from concept through production
    • Ability to analyze, plan, and solve complex system problems as they relate to engines and emissions
    • 2+ years of experience in emissions development
    • 2+ years of identifying and resolving emissions issues relating to calibration, controls, or exhaust system
    • 2+ years of Product Development experience which includes processing and delivering of programs from concept through production

    • Preferred experience in chemistry, catalysis, combustion, mechanical design, thermal dynamics, and gas dynamics
    • Preferred understating of the clients Product Development process (GPDS, INTEGRATOR, MPNR, WCPI, AVBOM, WERS, FSMS)
    • Familiar with Design For Six Sigma (DFSS), system and/or component FMEA, and DVP&R.



    • Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering
