  • Perform meshing and finite element attribute assessments for durability and NVH analyses of chassis systems for unibody and body on frame vehicles.
  • The analyst must be proficient at chassis systems modeling.
  • ANALYSIS: Perform analyses on chassis and full vehicle models as components, subsystems and full vehicles. The analyses include bare frames, trimmed frames, chassis components, and full vehicle models to determine performance against targets as follows:
    • Expert at multi-disciplinary optimization tools such as ModeFrontier for combining analyses from various codes.
    • Expert in running ABAQUS (Implicit, linear, nonlinear) solver to conduct durability analyses including contact problems. Must be able to work independently to build, trouble shoot and debug Hypermesh generated ABAQUS models.
    • Expert in running NASTRAN (linear) solver to conduct NVH and stress analyses. NVH Assessments including but not limited to; normal modes, attachment point equivalent stiffness, point mobilities, etc.
    • Experience with using nCode durability software.
    • Familiarity in running LS-DYNA (nonlinear) solver to conduct impact analyses and dynamic simulations.
    • Familiar with OptiStruct to conduct non-parametric design optimization, such as topology, shape, and gauge optimization.
  • MESHING: Obtain CATIA-V5 generated components from CAD personnel. Mesh, connect, and quality check new designs within the component, chassis frames and full vehicle CAE models using Hypermesh 14 & above.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback for improving structural performance. Perform model modifications, analysis, and optimization iterations as required to provide weight and cost savings, while meeting all functional performance targets.
  • Post process and present results at regular review meetings, and generate report on work.


  • Expertise using ModeFrontier, Hypermesh, NASTRAN, and ABAQUS
  • Six months or more experience within the last two years building models and running ModeFrontier optimizations, NVH and Durability analyses with NASTRAN and ABAQUS.
  • Modeling in HyperMesh 14.
  • Bachelor degree in engineering.



Skills Preferred:

  • Familiarity with LS-DYNA, OptStruct and nCode.
  • Chassis component and system analyses.
  • Advanced degree, Master or equivalent in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with a focus on finite element analysis.
