The primary responsibility of this role is part cost planning through entire vehicle development stages for Major/Minor/Model Year change projects for Instrument Panel/Cockpit related parts.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Cost Planning department's objective to achieve North American vehicle profitability.



  • Part cost planning through entire vehicle development stages for Major/Minor/Model Year change projects
  • Interface frequently with multiple departments such as program management, design, accounting and purchasing to discuss cost status to target
  • Complete cost reports and activities to support cost milestones per schedule
  • Provide executive summary level information for detailed cost estimates/quotes
  • Lead and participate in vehicle tear down activities or other cost reduction activities with the purpose of generating cost savings ideas Vehicle Engineering/Vehicle Analysis (VE/VA)
  • Understand cost structure and cost drivers of parts. Recommend cost reduction ideas to support cost targets for each vehicle development project
  • Create cost strategy for part deck for each vehicle development program that client has cost responsibility for
  • Complete benchmark analysis comparing internal and competitor parts. Recommend cost reduction Vehicle Engineering/Vehicle Analysis (VE/VA) ideas based on this data and analysis


  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience in major vehicle development cycle of part design or manufacturing launch
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and establish agreed upon due dates with their design department
  • Automotive or manufacturing background/experience such as SAE projects
