Responsibilities

 Candidate Responsibilities:

  • As a Machine R&D Mechanic you will build, troubleshoot and test off highway construction equipment modifications and prototype machines, providing feedback to the engineering teams throughout the process to ensure that machines can be built in a production environment and serviced effectively.
  • You will work with engineering to design and build custom test fixtures and test machines, components, and sub-assemblies.

Typical Day:

  • Primarily indoor assembly and instrumentation
  • Occasional outdoor testing and repairs
  • Unassisted lifting of up to 50 pounds

  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in off highway construction or agricultural equipment manufacturing, maintenance, or repair. Experience may include one or more of the following: machine assembly, machining, fabrication (welding), electrical systems, hydraulic systems, inspection, testing, or service and repair.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Previous basic mechanic shop power tool and hand tool experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of off highway construction or agricultural equipment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with the installation of test instrumentation including strain gauges, pressure gauges, and thermocouples, and interfacing these instruments with a data logger device.
  • Ability to weld
  • Ability to operate hose coupling crimping machine.
  • Post high school training in welding procedures, blueprint reading, machining, electrical and/or hydraulic systems

Soft Skills:

  • Able to work in a team environment, coordinating work with team members.
  • Patience and curiosity to troubleshoot and solve challenging mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
  • Desire to learn new skills involving research and development prototype machines.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities

 

Education Requirement

  • High school diploma or GED required.
