Design, validate, and maintain on-board diagnostics (OBD-II) software for powertrain controls. OBD-II is organized into major diagnostic monitor such adaptive fuel, catalyst, evaporative system, misfire, EGR/VCT, O2 sensors, and comprehensive components monitors.


Responsibilities include:

  • Developing control system specifications to meet regulatory requirements,
  • Working in a hands-on environment to design and validate that diagnostic system hardware and software meet requirements.
  • Author calibration guidelines,
  • Support subsystem feature team meetings to present new concepts and resolve issues.



  • Working knowledge of product development system engineering principles
  • Working knowledge of basic combustion engine operating principles
  • Understanding basic principles of controls engineering
  • Working knowledge of and testing techniques
  • 2 years developing software for powertrain control systems


Skills Preferred:

  • C software coding, integration and debug
  • Practical ability to test, debug, and validate software in vehicle and dyno settings
  • Proactive individual, outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills,
  • Exceptional work planning and data analysis skills,
  • Powertrain or OBD-II calibration experience preferred,
  • Personal computer skills with major applications such as EXCEL. MATLAB
  • Experience developing embedded control algorithms
  • Experience using internal tools to develop, implement and release feature code
  • Expertise in use of calibration development tools
  • Familiarity with and access to test facilities
  • Experience performing vehicle, dyno & software debugging


Education Required:

BSEE, BSME and/or BS-Computer Science/Engineering.


Education Preferred:

MSEE, MSME and/or MS-Computer Science/Engineering
