Engineering Job Description & Responsibilities

  • Join a team launching several vehicles this year and supporting more exciting vehicles in the pipeline under development
  • Be part of a group that prides itself on a family like culture, team work, & flexibility
  • Lead Cradle to Grave development of (A, B, C, &D Pillars, Door Scuffs, Cowls, Cargo Area ¼ Trim, Lift gate Interior trim parts.)
  • Partner with studio designers up front to create tooling feasible surfaces
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure proper packaging of the vehicle and components (Electrical, Body, Overheads, Carpet, etc...)
  • Develop B-side features to ensure robust attachments
  • Lead 100% Virtual DV testing through CAE Analysis
  • Ensure that all Design Practices are followed during part development to achieve functional objectives Make sure all joint gap and overlap build objectives are achievable and executed
  • Manage all eBOM, Weight, and Part Numbers within in the OEM systems
  • Create DFMEA and DVP&R plans
  • Track DV and PV Testing Results
  • Follow Developmental Checklists to assure all milestones are met
  • Provide Reactive Problem solving for all launch and production issues
  • Initiate all Change Notice documents required for part modifications
  • Provide Onsite launch support at plants during prototype builds and production ramp up
  • Manage Tier 1 and 2 suppliers for both development and launch success



Required Engineering Experience & Skills

  • 8 + years of automotive product design and development engineering experience
  • 5+ years of automotive Interior Plastics experience (Design, Development, and/or Product Launch).
  • Demonstrated Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, FEA, RSSS, BOM's, & PPAP process
  • Strong Communication, organizational, interpersonal and MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & Outlook) skills


Engineering Education Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering


Preferred Engineering Experience & Skills

  • Experience with A-surface quality, grain, and color approval process, Studio A-surface & early packaging development
  • Knowledge of NX/TeamCenter DFSS (proactive or reactive), and/or CAD Systems (CATIA, UGNX)
  • Hands on working experience with any mechanical systems (Through workplace or hobby)


Engineering Education Preferred

  • Graduate degree in Business or Engineering
